1 Night at Midway Marina

Stats for November 3, 2018

Origin:  Aqua Yacht Harbor

Destination:  Midway Marina

Distance:  56.3 miles

Speed:  9.2mph

Time on the Move:  6 hours and 7 minutes.

A little morning fog in Aqua Yacht Harbor.

Heading out of Aqua Yacht with Livin the Dream and Have Another Day was pretty fun on Saturday morning.  There is something about traveling with boats that you know that makes the day of travel a little more exciting.

Beautiful fall colors and birds! We have seen so many birds along the rivers!!

We passed by this drainage system made to spread out the flow of water in the event flooding brings water over this hill and down into the river.
Arts, crafts, and music time in the salon!! Someone is always stealing the tape to make something!!
Toby’s just hanging out!

We ended up in a group of 9 loopers, all heading to the same place.  We thought we were going to anchor while everyone else went to the marina, but in the end, it was a sunny afternoon, and we figured the kids would enjoy the time on land to run wild and free with their buddies, so we went ahead and stayed at the marina.

10 looper boats in the lock.

Follow the leader back out of the lock.
Finishing up some lunch with super spy glasses on. Very essential.

Turns out it was a good choice to go to the marina because we had some great entertainment.  First there was the looong line up of boats waiting to get into the marina.

We also had to navigate around this tow pushing barges right thru our traffic jam.

Then, the fact that it was a dry county, yet all the captains bought beer upon check in because technically the marina office is on the water, so they don’t have to follow the rules apparently.

Didn’t know we needed beer, but apparently everyone needs beer here?!

We stood around in the parking lot drinking beer and let the kids run in the grass.  Eventually the kids wanted to go play in the woods which was fine with us.  However, a local came up (complete with his huge mug of chocolate milk/brandy/coffee combo) and said there are lots of snakes in the woods and it would be best if they didn’t play there.  So the kids settled for lots of screaming and very high swinging on the porch swing.

The clubhouse even had a hot tub!!

We headed back to the boat for some eggs, sausage, and bagels for dinner.

A peek at real life–cooking on the boat!!

And were treated to a beautiful sunset before bed.  Another long day tomorrow…

Thanks for following along!!
