We pulled away from the dock on July 19, 2018 to start our 13 month adventure around the Great American Loop.  We will pass through Canada, down Lake Michigan, straight through downtown Chicago (that’s right!!  On our boat!!), and take the upper half of the Mississippi River.  At that point, we will take a side trip to Nashville, and then continue south on the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway and ultimately end up in the Gulf of Mexico in Mobile, Alabama.  We will travel around Florida and spend a few months in the Bahamas before heading back up the east coast, both on the Atlantic Ocean and through the intercoastal waterway.  At that point, we’ll make our way through Canada once again and head back home towards Lake St Clair and Harrison Township, Michigan.

 

We want to invest our time and finances in experiences that will enrich our lives and provide memories for years to come.  We would like to experience all of these adventures with our children now, while they’re still fairly young and actually want to hang out with dear ol mom and dad.  We love that we can experience this trip of a lifetime all together.  We all know of people that worked hard and saved up and waited for just the “right time” to retire only to have financial troubles, health problems, or other family commitments inadvertently change their plans.   We don’t want to wait until later to actually start living our dreams, so we figured now is the perfect time to take a big step and try something new.  We never know what will happen tomorrow, so let’s do it now.  If not now then when?

 

We hope that by sharing our journey and experience with others, we will inspire you to make a change in your life or try something you’ve always wanted to do.  You don’t have to take a break from “real life” and move on a boat, but get out there and give something new a try.
