7+ inches of snow fell yesterday afternoon and evening, so I was pretty confident we were going to be staying home today. Sure enough, around 9:30 last night we started getting phone calls, text messages, and emails from 3 schools that today would be our first official snow day!! Here’s how we spent our day:

First we lazed around watching Christmas shows through the toilet paper Lucy, our elf, tp’d our living room with last night (she’s usually not too naughty, but I think she was excited we had a snow day!). So nice to not have to rush around in the morning!

Then we shoveled, rode sleds down the snow piles, built snow forts, and went for a walk in the snow. It’s not very cold out, so it was a lot of fun to be outside!

Colin got stuck in his fort and had to get pulled out by his feet. Thank goodness I was right there–I think he learned his lesson!

We made Christmas cards for teachers, cousins, and friends. We also wrapped some presents and spun them around a few times.

We opened Christmas cards and argued about who could look at them and who sent them to us. This activity was not quite as jolly as I’d hoped. But hey…at least we’re still in jammies!!
After this, we went back outside to work on the forts and sled some more. I made some treats, and now we’re all snuggled up watching The Santa Clause…
life is good! Hope you’re enjoying your day!
